Where does Mac say he doesn't accept proto-practices? Does he have perhaps a different word for them? In any case, his discussion in DRA would suggest that he would allow proto-practices as there he allows for proto-reasoning. On a different angel, what would such a society be like that does not have practices in the Macintyrean sense? I'm going to have to think about this as a possibility. Sounds like a good background for a sci fi story, but at the moment, I can't imagine what it would be like. Do you have anything in mind? I'm just thinking it would be Calvinball all the time.
